Yoga Center & Residence, Kasauli Foothills
Scope: Architecture
Area: 23,500 Sq. Ft.

There’s a certain rhythm to the train ride from Chandigarh to Shimla—the way it winds through pine forests, tunnels, and mist, revealing glimpses of slate roofs and quiet hill towns nestled in green. That rhythm, that sense of calm continuity with nature, forms the soul of this Yoga Center and Residence.

Set amidst the serene landscape near Kasauli, the project unfolds gently along the natural contours of the land—architecture that breathes with the terrain rather than against it. The use of varying tonalities of local slate creates a dialogue with the surrounding hills, echoing their texture and hues as light shifts through the day.

Each structure—be it a meditative yoga hall, a courtyard, or a private residence—has been placed with sensitivity, ensuring minimal disturbance to the ground and allowing the landscape to remain the true protagonist. The built spaces flow into open verandahs, decks, and walkways shaded by trees, where one can hear the soft rustle of leaves and distant hill breezes.

The design draws from memories of those slow hill journeys, where every turn offered a new perspective, and every pause carried a sense of stillness. Here, too, time slows down—inviting reflection, balance, and connection.

It is architecture in harmony with nature, where stone meets sky, and silence becomes a living element.
