Project: Farm Living in the Countryside
Scope: Architecture

There’s a memory that lingers—of long summer afternoons on the farm, the sound of the tubewell running, the sparkle of water flowing through the canals, and the fragrance of wet earth rising after irrigation. Life moved slower there—marked not by hours, but by sunlight, shadows, and the rhythm of the fields.

This project reimagines that simple, rural poetry for today’s world—
a semi-urban farmhouse designed as a residential retreat amidst agricultural land, where modern comfort meets the quiet honesty of the countryside.

Surrounded by a lush, landscaped garden, the country house opens itself to the fields—broad verandahs that blur the line between inside and out, shaded courtyards where one can sit with morning tea, and long walkways that lead toward the water’s edge.

The architecture embraces local materials and textures—exposed brick, lime plaster, and tiled roofs that age gracefully with time. Every space is oriented to catch the breeze from the fields, the light of the setting sun, and the whisper of rustling crops nearby.

It is not just a home, but a return—to the simplicity of rural living,
to the memory of cooling off under a banyan tree,
of watching the sky turn gold over a quiet canal,
of water drawn fresh from the earth, carrying the taste of the land itself.

Here, farm living becomes an act of remembrance—a gentle pause, where modern life meets the timeless charm of the countryside.
