Scope: Architecture
Area : 3500 Sqft
Set against the gentle foothills of the Himalayas in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh, this residence is envisioned as a second home for the Managing Director of a leading home appliances company—a place where he could disconnect from the industrial pulse and return to a quieter rhythm.
Although situated within an industrial campus, the home stands apart—serene, minimal, and inward-looking—a retreat shaped by restraint and memory.
The architecture follows a modern minimalist language, softened by the warmth of wood and the grounded presence of stone. Every window has been oriented to frame the hills, capturing light and breeze while maintaining a meditative calm inside. The structure feels both contemporary and rooted—a modern shell cradling the nostalgia of a South Indian home.
There’s a whisper of his childhood in the design—the coolness of shaded verandahs, the play of light across textured walls, the quiet dignity of open courtyards that invite pause. These subtle details weave together the familiarity of his southern heritage with the simplicity of Himalayan living.
Here, amidst the stillness of the hills and the distant hum of industry,
architecture becomes a balance—between work and rest,
between memory and modernity,
between where one comes from and where one chooses to pause.
